Brake Motors

About the product

Brake motors are required when you want the motor to stop quickly even with heavy inertia/load like hoisting, positioning or material movement. .

Design

TThe construction is quite robust and requires very limited maintenance. With wearing of liners on the rotor of brake, the air-gap can be easily adjusted. lf necessary, the rotor can be easily replaced completely as well. The brake is mounted on end covers on non-driving end of the motor. lt comes with a Manual release lever.

Features

Brake motors are becoming popular due to its practically maintenance free and noise less performance. Brake motors are normally supplied with D.C. fail safe brakes, also known as normally ON brake. The motor is braked (Locked) when power is not applied i.e. de-energized to brake. This ensures real fail safe braking.

Common Questions

Brake Motors

Brake motors are electric motors equipped with a braking mechanism that allows them to stop or hold the load securely when power is turned off. The brake is typically spring-loaded and is released when the motor is energized.

Brake motors are widely used in industries like material handling, cranes, hoists, conveyors, elevators, and machinery requiring precise stopping and holding capabilities.

  • Quick and reliable stopping.
  • Enhanced safety for applications requiring load holding.
  • Precision in operations where controlled stopping is essential.
  • Reduced wear and tear on mechanical components.

Yes, brake motors can be customized to meet specific requirements, such as different braking torques, mounting configurations, or environmental protections (e.g., for outdoor or hazardous environments).

Regular maintenance includes inspecting the brake mechanism, ensuring proper alignment, checking the wear of friction materials, and verifying electrical connections to ensure optimal performance and safety.
